Is your canonical tag actually on? Most merchants don't know.
Magento already ships a "use canonical link meta tag" setting for products and categories — most stores have no idea whether it's enabled, or that leaving it off is one of the most common real SEO mistakes on a Magento install. This module runs a read-only audit and tells you the honest answer.

A diagnostic, not a fix — on purpose
It doesn't generate tags or change config for you. It tells you exactly what core is already doing and where your catalog is at risk.
Checks the real canonical setting
Confirms whether "Use Canonical Link Meta Tag" is actually enabled for products and, separately, for categories — not just whether it looks like it should be.
Flags duplicate-category products
Every product assigned to more than one category is listed by name — a common duplicate-content risk most merchants don't realize they have.
Store-wide scan, not a sample
The category check runs across your entire product catalog, not a handful of spot-checked SKUs.
One readable admin report
Both findings are shown in plain language on a single admin screen — no exporting logs or digging through the database yourself.
Diagnostic only — nothing gets changed
No tag generation, no config toggles flipped for you. It's an audit report, not a replacement for core's own canonical feature.
Catches the mistake before Google does
Surfaces a setting most stores forget to check until a ranking problem already shows up — run it any time you want a status check.
Why this exists: Magento's canonical tag setting lives under Catalog > Catalog > Search Engine Optimization as two easy-to-miss toggles, and nothing in core ever tells a merchant whether they're actually on — a rebuild, a theme migration, or simply never having looked leaves plenty of stores running with it off and no way to know. Separately, core intentionally allows a single product to be assigned to multiple categories with no warning at all, which routes crawlers to multiple distinct URLs for the same product — precisely the duplicate-content signal canonical tags exist to prevent. This module doesn't set anything or generate any tags; it just runs both checks against your real configuration and catalog data and reports the honest result.
